Thank you so much for this. I needed it.

I find it particularly disturbing that media articles are prompting comments I have seen from friends uninterested in watching the trial, but interested now in voicing their views, which are along the lines of:

1. “It should never have been filmed.” (Imagine! Then we would ONLY have the press perspective & they could spin it however they wished!!!)

2. Whatever you think about the result it’s a loss for all women & all victims of abuse.

2 is truly disturbing to me! Amber is not “all women” & the implication that “all women” should be believed despite evidence & the verdict of a jury after a 6 week trial coming to the opposite conclusion beyond reasonable doubt is to say that in the circumstance all physical violence came from Amber towards Depp it doesn’t matter - Amber should be allowed to call Depp an abuser& a person who committed DV & SV & she should be heard for all time while Depp should do nothing about it. !!!?! Where is the logic? 🔍

People are quick to jump on the “whatever your perspective on the verdict, the loss is bad for women” train, but I say whatever your perspective it is important to remember that one person could have NO blame at all here (as a jury has ruled it, based on evidence - this person is Depp!) & there is no societal rule that should mean it is wrong for that person to receive justice & to then, very simply - be believed. Just like they’re suggesting victims should be!!!?!

Thank you. Yes. I want to scream this from the rooftops. Send this to every major editor. The coverage has been disappointing, disorienting, and insulting.

Thank you for speaking out for those of us women who stand for the truth. You expressed exactly what's on my mind. Violence knows no gender.

The jury didn't make it 'bad for women' -- Amber Heard did it, with her own actions. As she has been demonstrating over and over again, she is externalising all the blame for her actions, taking NO RESPONSIBILITY for ANYTHING.

I DO NOT want her to represent my voice. I want a lady who respects the truth to be my role model.

This is not 'bad for women'. This makes us stronger. Yes, we need to fight twice as hard now to get our voice across, but now we are doing so for the truth.

Let's teach the future generations of women the right way to be one.

Watching the trial on live streaming with law tubers and then reading the MSM recaps at the end of the day felt very Twilight Zone, cue the music. What I was seeing and what I was told just didn’t match. Then I watched a couple of very pandering Elaine Umbridge interviews the day after the verdict and that sealed the deal for me. RIP MSM.

Thank you! Have been saying this since the verdict! This should be spread far and wide. I cannot believe the spin I have seen and heard. It’s disgusting!

Perfect ! Bravo

Excellent! Straight to the point and beautifully written. MSM wants to control the public, their concerted efforts in this case points directly to this. We are not sheeple, we are free thinkers who won't continue to the sway of the media.

Excellent piece, thank you!

I avoid media as much as possible, and I’m not a right wing nut. I came across this tweet from Alex Epstein today about his book on fossil fuels. Apparently, even reporting simple sales numbers is impossible if it doesn’t fit the narrative. (Not signalling agreement with the book here, I haven’t read it)

“Good news: Fossil Future had a blockbuster first week, OUTSELLING EVERY BOOK ON THE NYT BESTSELLER LIST BUT ONE. It outsold some books by 5X!

Bad news: The @nytimes didn't put Fossil Future on its "bestseller" list.

Help me overcome NYT bias by spreading the word about FF.”

It had to be said and it was said!

The dictators of the written word have only shown how outdated they are... and how corrupt. Thank you for your work, the times have made it clear how necessary it is.

I felt the same after watching trial everyday and then reading headlines. I was sure I had missed something when reading articles and watching MSM coverage. The crusade now against internet journalists is also puzzling. When true crime enthusiasts on the internet helped solve the Gabby Petito case we all praised them for helping the family get answers. Helping uncover the lies told by Amber Heard and MSM to vindicate Johnny Depp is being met with the exact opposite. It’s disgusting Watching MSM twist things day after day felt like the time Putin told us he wasn’t invading Ukraine as we all watched televised images of tanks on the border. Cuba has been successful in oppressing its people largely because the government controls the media. We condemn Russia for doing reporting misinformation but here’s America’s MSM doing it to us. Their gaslighting just feels oppressive and insulting.

This was really a great little piece. I tried to see things from the feminist perspective, tried to be neutral but the more I kept reading these headlines and seeing similar bizarre statements on Twitter I started speaking up. Thank you so much because I realize now that it is indeed gaslighting and there is nothing I hate worse than gaslighting because it is an attempt to manipulate the mind and I need to stay based in reality. It's important to hear the voices of liberal women based in reality about this thing. Unfortunately I feel like the only place we will hear them is on Youtube but that's better than nothing because I was starting to feel really weird, questioning my own judgment about this.

I have always put a great deal of trust in the mainstream media, but no longer. This was just the final straw for me. Thanks so much!

I agree with you 99.99%. I walked my second husband through getting his voice back. The only reason I knew what to do was because I lived through it. I was literally afraid for my life and the life of my children for 12 years. My husband after 19 yrs is no longer spineless. So not all women are liars. #Abuse_isn't_Gender_Relative

Thank you so much for writing this Jax! I find it deeply disturbing, while not surprising that the media is trying to gaslight the world.
